Split, a town on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, is known for its beaches and the fortresslike complex at its center, Diocletian’s Palace, erected by the Roman emperor in the 4th century. Once home to thousands, its sprawling remains include more than 200 buildings. The old town of Split is built on and around the spectacular RomanPalace erected by the Roman Emperor Diocletian (born in Salona –today’s Solin) in the 4th century. The walking tour starts with a visit to the cellars of the Palace that are still very well preserved. The cellars offer a good view at how the life in the Palace was organized.Other sights such as the Golden Gate, the Silver Gate, the Peristyle Square etc. will be seen from the outside. After visiting the national park, the group can enjoy the walking tour of Sibenik; City known for one of Dalmatia’s most valuable religious monuments – the 15th century St. Jacob’s Cathedral, a masterpiece of the Gothic- Renaissance art.
