Description
Chashma-i Ayub Mausoleums construction dates back to 1208-1209.A.D. and has repeatedly been reconstructed since then. The new premises are covered with smaller domes which were added to the existing ones. Today Chashma-i Ayub Mausoleum looks like an elongated prism and consists of numerous chambers of varying sizes and patterns. They appear shadowy, with only faint light emitting from under the domes. This creates an aura of mystery and seclusion. The mausoleums central part was built in 1380 by order of Amir Timur and remain intact even today. The present-day structure stands in bare austerity, devoid of any decoration. It is now a Museum of Water Supply, displaying collections from the time of the Bukhara emirate. It depicts professional water carriers which were sold in inflatable skins in the bazaars.
