Kurmanjan Datka was the queen of Alai Kyrgyz who ruled the city from 1811 to 1907. Under her rule, the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan developed, and peace prevailed in them. She was also responsible for making Alai a part of the Russian Empire. To honor her work for the country, her monument has been installed in the Oak Park. It was installed in 2004 and was sculpted by Sculptor V. Shestopal and designed by architect A.Musinov. It is a bronze monument that is one of the most visited sites in Bishkek.
