Sevanavank is medieval monastery situated on a cape of the north-west coast of Lake Sevan in Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province. Because of the easy accessibility and the picturesque location, Sevanavank is among the most visited tourist spots in Armenia. The Sevanavank monastery was originated by Princess Mariam in 874 in Armenia under the Arab rule. There are two churches in the Sevanavank monastery; one is SurpArakelots which means the ‘Holy Apostles’ and the other is SurpAstvatsatsin which means the ‘Holy Mother of God.’ Both the churches are octagonal in shape. Adjacent to the churches, there is a ruined gravit with six wood columns. The renovation was done in 1956 and 1957.
