Love the beach? Sapphire crystal clear water with a hint of the ancient walled towns?
Officially known as the Republic of Croatia, this county is situated at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, on the Adriatic sea. The unique name ‘Croatia’ dates back to Medieval Latin. It is said to a Gothic or Indo-Aryan term used for Slavic tribe. The population majorly consist of Roman Catholics and are extremely warm in nature. The land has been passed between the competing kingdoms of the Balkans and central Europe. Due to a large number of influences of kingdoms and rulers, the leftover of the rich cultural heritage and legacy is still present to be witnessed in this beautiful region. There are excellent museums screaming out stories of the treasures that cover the gamut of European history. This place has seen it all, from fascination to horrifying. The remains are what makes this place a complete amalgamation of beauty and culture.
So how many of us out here are HBO’s popular series ‘Game of Thrones’ fans? I definitely am one! Croatia started gaining a lot of attention from the world after the famous TV series decided to showcase some of the beautiful places of Croatia. Dubrovnik’s city walls and forts are what we see as King’s landing.
The main attraction of Croatia is indisputably its island-speckled coastline. The clarity of the water is going to strike you the moment you look at it. With the tropical Mediterranean climatic conditions, the white pebble beach sparkles like a jewel. People say that the beach dazzles in shades of sapphire and emerald and is a sheer joy to the eyes. Being a beach, the lazy-delayed beach culture can never be forgotten. The culture of this place is like any other beach – perfectly lazy. The shiny long sand stretches are a treat and make every single one of us wish to spend the rest of our lives here
The moment you shift your gaze from the glistering water, you will see the Dinaric Alps welcome you with its mighty warmth. The Dinaric Alps stretch all the way from Italy to Albania and hug major parts of the coast. Head further inside and you will be surprised to see the farmland rolling. This place definitely is a wonder-pack!There is a number of activities for the beach lovers on this dazzling white beach, like snorkeling, diving. Windsurfing, sailing, diving, biking, zip lining along the ranges, rafting, hiking the trails, rock climbing. There is just so much that this place offers.
The culture and the people of Croatia are so warm and welcoming, but at the same time, they do not bother those who do not wish to be bothered. The locals embrace the tourist and the way the tourists and locals bond here is something one needs to witness in order to believe. Sharing food and drinks is a major part of the culture here, which speaks largely about the hospitality and warmth of the people and the quality of local produce. Croatian wines and olive oils are making a mark on the world stage.
Croatia is located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe. The Mediterranean breeze keeps it warm and lustrous all through the year. It is said to be the sunniest spot in Europe. During May and June, on an average 12 hours of sunshine can be expected by the tourists. Sunbathing and tanning are on the cards!
Croatia has maintained its currency ‘kuna’, even though it has been a member of the EU since 2013. Even though the pound has gone through a massive slump against the dollar and the euro, the story of Croatia is not at all alarming for the visitors. The place is extremely pocket-friendly. Dinner for two at a trendy restaurant including would cost something around £40. Now, that is a steal!
